Most professional grade stump removal machines fit through a 36 inch gate or opening. Since the 1970's, fences and gates started to be regulated by state, county and local codes governing their dimensions. One of the things that became standard was the size of the gate opening.

Fence and Gate Openings
Since the 1970's, cities, towns and counties began regulating fence construction and sometimes requiring an inspection from the local building department. This meant the openings needed to be at least 36 inches, allowing for entry of all types of machinery and equipment. In addition, emergency and first responders were now able to reliably get people and life saving equipment into yards to be able to fulfil their duties.
Fences with gates or openings smaller than 36 inches
Since not all homes were built to current code, there are often fences with gates or openings that are smaller than 36 inches. In these cases, it may be necessary to remove a door or section of the fence in order to get machinery and equipment into the yard. If this is the case, it is important to consider a stump removal contractor that possesses the skills and equipment required to remove the gate, door or section, perform the stump removal, and then re-install the gate or section.
Why us?
Colorado Stump Removal carries the tools and equipment to remove fence sections and re-install them. Whether its a gate or section that needs to be removed to gain access to a yard, we have everything needed on our truck to pull this task off successfully and seamlessly. Our trucks are equipped with solar panels that make charging batteries for cordless tools a non-issue. We keep drills and saws on hand to be able to dismantle just about any fence or gate. In addition, we keep a full array of different length and color deck screws. These screws are dipped in tan and brown paint which makes them ideal for blending in with different color fence finishes. They are also hot-dipped galvanized, so they wont rust, leading to a stain that appears below screws on the wood surface from screws that rust. Often, the fence or gate is more sturdy when we leave!
